Chevron
Our favourite pattern to lay, and one of the most demanding for accuracy. Chevron boards arrive on site already cut precisely at an angle, and our work is to bring them together so that two rows meet in one clean, true V across the whole room. Nothing here is left to chance: every axis, every joint and every cut has to be exact, because a small error at the start shows across the entire floor. That is why chevron is entrusted not only to the tools, but above all to experience, care and an eye for detail.
What we lay
Classic herringbone
The traditional rectangular pattern. The boards themselves are rectangular and meet at a right angle, with no mitre.
Straight boards
Long boards running one way. The quietest option, and it visually lengthens a room.
Vinyl flooring
When moisture resistance matters, or when wood does not fit the budget.
Laminate
We lay laminate as well, where that is the floor specified.
Substrate preparation
Levelling compound, moisture control, matching heights against adjoining floor finishes.
Oiling
Osmo oil, so the floor is handed over already treated and ready to use.
Skirting
We fit skirting on jobs where we lay the floor ourselves.

Every entry is a real project. Photographs come from the job, not from a catalogue.
Materials
Adhesive, primer and oil are chosen for the type of substrate and the moisture we measured in it. Concrete with underfloor heating and a dry cement screed need different adhesives, and that is decided on site. We also help choose the boards themselves: we say which board construction and thickness suits the substrate, the underfloor heating and the pattern you have chosen.
How the work runs

Site visit
We come out, measure the area and look at the substrate. No charge.

Substrate and moisture check
We measure the moisture and the level of the concrete. If it is too wet or too uneven we say so then, not after the floor is down.

Laying
Glued to the substrate. When we lay chevron or classic herringbone, the first thing we set is the axis, because the whole room follows it.

Oiling and handover
We apply the oil, clear up after ourselves and hand over a finished floor.

How much does wood floor laying cost?

The price is worked out per square metre, and the final figure depends on the area, the state of the substrate and the pattern you choose. That is why we give an exact price only after the site visit, not over the phone. Chevron costs more because boards cut at an angle are dearer to buy and go down considerably slower: every row has to follow the axis.
What to weigh up before working out a figure
- Area. It drives both how long the job takes and the final sum.
- The substrate. If the concrete is uneven or too damp, it needs preparing first. We see that at the site visit.
- The pattern. Straight boards go down fastest, classic herringbone slower, chevron slowest of all.
These prices are for the laying work. Clients usually buy the boards themselves, and we take care of the glue and primer.

Common questions
How should a room be prepared before wood floor laying?
The room needs to be empty and the substrate clear and dry. If there is nowhere to put the furniture, or other trades are still working, we agree on that before starting, so the floor does not go down into a building site.
What if the substrate is too wet or uneven?
We say so straight after measuring, before anything is laid. A cement substrate is usually good up to 2 per cent, and the requirements are stricter with underfloor heating. If it does not pass, we prepare it ourselves: levelling compound, moisture control and matching heights against adjoining floor finishes.
How long do the boards need to sit in the room first?
Packs are delivered into the room ahead of time so the wood settles to the temperature and humidity. Otherwise gaps or swelling appear later.
Who buys the boards, the client or the fitter?
Most often the client buys them. We take care of the adhesive and the primer.
How is payment for wood floor laying handled?
Materials are paid for when they arrive on site. The laying itself is paid for once the work is finished.
How long does wood floor laying take?
It depends on the area and the pattern. Chevron takes considerably longer than straight boards because every row has to be aligned to the axis. We give an exact schedule after the site visit.
Is laying a wood floor dusty?
Less than people expect. Chevron boards arrive already cut at an angle, so on site we cut only at the walls and where the room ends. We keep the cutting to one spot so the dust does not travel through the house.
Can wood floors be laid over underfloor heating?
Yes. In that case the board type, the adhesive and the heating schedule before and after laying all matter.

Kaunas and the towns around it, roughly within 100 km. We have jobs in Vilnius and Marijampolė; for anything further afield we agree separately.
